The Gallows Cafe in Pembroke offers a quietly charming spot to settle in for breakfast or a casual lunch, nestled right within the historic setting of Hangmans Hall. This cafe leans into a relaxed, cozy atmosphere where locals and visitors alike can enjoy thoughtfully prepared food without fuss. Its interior, described as quaint and carefully styled, complements the laid-back vibe, encouraging lingering over a pot of tea or a slice of cake.

The menu showcases a fresh take on brunchy favorites—items like the Cobb Salad, Stack Roll, and quinoa dishes suggest a balance between comfort and health-conscious options. Light bites such as grilled halloumi with Korean ketchup mayo or loaded potato wedges add a playful twist for those after flavorful, approachable plates. Portion sizes are generous, making it a good spot to recharge midday.

It’s the sort of place where parents might bring kids for pancakes while catching up over sourdough Welsh rarebit, or friends stop off for coffee accompanied by changing daily cakes—ranging from battenburg sponge to pistachio brownies, indicating a kitchen that enjoys variety and seasonal ingredients. The cakes in particular seem to draw regular praise, often described as rich but not overly indulgent.

Outdoor seating on the terrace provides a welcome option when Pembroke’s weather cooperates, while inside, the inviting décor and attentive service create a setting that feels intentionally personal rather than commercial. Visitors looking for a quiet break or a casual catch-up will find a spot that suits mornings and early afternoons best, as the cafe likely slows down later in the day.

Overall, The Gallows Cafe suits those seeking comfort in familiar yet elevated flavors, paired with an easygoing atmosphere that reflects the small-town character of Pembroke's outskirts. It feels like a place where details matter—the kind of cafe that remembers your preferences, serves up thoughtfully crafted food, and is unhurried enough to make a weekday brunch or weekend lunch feel like a little pause in the day.

What a gem of a place to visit for breakfast or lunch! Incredible selection of cakes that seem to change daily & the lunch menu is fab. Us grown ups had Welsh rarebit toasted sourdough sandwiches, the kids had pancakes. Portions & flavours were spot on. The cakes are amazing. We had so many - battenburg sponge cake, chocolate caramel cake, pistachio brownie, strawberry & passion fruit cheesecake & others (we visited more than once ). Already looking forward to visiting again next year!

What an amazingly quaint cafe on the outskirts of Pembroke. The owners have put so much effort into the decorations and the food is just second to none. The attention to every detail to make your visit a memorable one really shows. If you want to experience customer service as it used to be then try this little hidden cafe.

The place is an absolute delight. With a cutesy interior and a nice terrace. We enjoyed two different cakes: an apricot & cherry crown, and a plum & lemon slice. Both packed full of flavour. The breakfast and lunch options looked wonderful as well, so maybe next time…

The Gallows is an absolute gem! The cakes here are truly out of this world—definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We tried their salad and the egg and bacon roll, both of which were incredibly tasty. The ambiance is fantastic with games on the tables, making it extremely entertaining. Not to mention, the decorations are quirky and cute, making it a memorable experience. Highly recommend stopping by for a delightful treat!

Lovely, quirky little cafe hidden in the country roads behind Pembroke. Highly recommend if you're in the area! Great selection of lovely cakes and savouries on the counter (we took some away with us) and a very interesting menu. Children loved their pancakes with chocolate chips, sauce, brownies and cream and we enjoyed sour dough rolls with the most delicious eggs (from their own hens), bacon, onions and chutney. Lovely tea and coffee too. Children enjoyed playing the card games available and Maverick the duck in the courtyard! We missed the breakfast hours and if we'd been in the area longer we would definitely have returned to try the breakfasts. Highly recommend!!

Really enjoyed this experience while we were staying in Pembroke, only found this place by a small sign off a road and decided to try it out. Staff are friendly, and the place is dog-friendly. You’re given a menu and can either sit inside or outside, and after ordering at the register they will bring your order over to you. They have a selection of cakes (pretty sure these change daily as the Lemon and Blueberry Sponge I’d had one day wasn’t around the next day), as well as scones for a cream tea, and some light bites from the menu. A selection of both hot and cold drinks are offered, but no alcohol since it’s more akin to a tearoom than a pub. Would definitely return! UPDATED 15-June-2024 Still as friendly as ever! I had the halloumi pancakes (sounds weird at first but, trust me, it goes together really well!)
